Who it's for

Is long-term companion care right for your parent?

We would rather be honest early than disappoint you later. Here is who we serve well, and where we would suggest looking if it is not us.

We are a good fit when

  • Your loved one is an older adult who is mostly independent, wants to stay at home, and would welcome steady company and a hand with daily life
  • You want one caregiver who truly knows them, for years
  • A live-in companion with a set 8-hour day, or 40 hours of weekday care, fits what they need
  • They live in metro Atlanta
  • Your family is comfortable arranging cover for the caregiver's vacation and sick days
  • Full-time private care for several years fits comfortably within your means

We are probably not the right fit when

None of these is a judgment. They are simply things we do not do well, and others do.

Medical or nursing care is needed

Our caregivers are non-medical. Injections, wound care, and managing medications need licensed professionals.

Where to look: Ask your loved one's doctor about a licensed home health agency.

Care is needed around the clock

We do not offer 24-hour or overnight care. Even live-in companions work a set 8-hour day.

Where to look: A home care agency that staffs 24-hour shifts, or an assisted living or memory care community.

It is short term or after a hospital stay

We only work with families long term, usually for years.

Where to look: The hospital's discharge planner or your doctor can arrange short-term home health.

You need fewer hours

We only offer full-time arrangements. Part-time, weekend-only, and occasional visits are outside what we do.

Where to look: Many Atlanta agencies offer hourly care. Empowerline, the Atlanta Regional Commission's free aging resource service, can point you to options.

You need guaranteed backup cover

We do not send substitute caregivers when yours is away. The family arranges those days.

Where to look: A larger agency with a team of caregivers, or pairing a long-term caregiver with an hourly agency for days off.

The cost would be a stretch

Care like this usually lasts for years. We would honestly rather not become a strain on your family over that time.

Where to look: Empowerline and the Eldercare Locator are free and can help you find programs and options that fit your budget.

Outside metro Atlanta? The Eldercare Locator can connect you with care where your loved one lives. To find a geriatric care manager who can assess the situation, try the Aging Life Care Association.
