About CrossleyCare

What is CrossleyCare?

CrossleyCare is a family-owned, non-medical in-home care service in metro Atlanta, Georgia. We place one consistent caregiver with one family for the long term, usually for years. We offer two full-time arrangements: a live-in companion, and weekday care of 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Who owns CrossleyCare?

CrossleyCare is a family-owned business, run by the Crossley family in the Atlanta area. We focus only on long-term, non-medical in-home care, and a member of our family is involved from the first conversation onward.

What areas of Atlanta do you serve?

We serve families in metro Atlanta, including Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, East Cobb, Marietta, Vinings, Smyrna, Roswell, Milton, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Duluth, and Suwanee. If you are elsewhere in metro Atlanta, ask us. We do not currently serve families outside the Atlanta area.

Do you provide private live-in caregivers in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, or East Cobb?

Yes. We place private, long-term caregivers, both live-in companions and weekday caregivers, with families in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, East Cobb, and across metro Atlanta. See the areas we serve.

Who is CrossleyCare a good fit for?

Older adults who are mostly independent, want to stay in their own home, and would be happier and safer with a steady, familiar person helping with daily life. Usually an adult son or daughter, a spouse, or a trusted advisor reaches out on their behalf. It is a full-time, private-pay service that usually lasts for years, so it is best for families who can comfortably afford it for the long term.

The care

What is the difference between companion care and home health care?

Home health care is medical care at home, such as nursing or therapy, provided by licensed clinicians and usually ordered by a doctor. Companion care, also called non-medical home care, is help with daily life: company, meals, getting ready for the day, and keeping up with routines. CrossleyCare provides long-term companion care only. Our guide on companion care vs home health goes into more detail.

Can in-home care help an aging parent stay at home instead of moving to assisted living?

For an older adult who is mostly independent, one steady caregiver at home can make staying at home realistic and less lonely. If your parent needs supervision around the clock or medical care, assisted living, memory care, or a home health agency may be the safer choice, and we will tell you so honestly.

Is CrossleyCare medical care?

No. CrossleyCare is non-medical. Our caregivers help with companionship and daily living, not nursing tasks such as injections, wound care, or managing medications. If your loved one needs medical care at home, ask their doctor about a licensed home health agency.

Do you offer 24-hour care?

No. We do not offer 24-hour or overnight care. Even a live-in companion works a set 8-hour day and is off duty the rest of the time. If your loved one needs someone awake and available around the clock, a 24-hour home care agency or an assisted living community is likely a better fit.

What does a CrossleyCare caregiver help with?

The exact duties are agreed in writing before care begins. Typically that means companionship and conversation, help getting up and ready for the day, preparing meals, light tidying of your loved one's own living space and laundry, and keeping up with routines, hobbies, and appointments. Above all, the caregiver is a steady, familiar presence.

Will we have the same caregiver every day?

Yes. That is the whole idea. One caregiver works with your family, every scheduled day, for the long term. We pay our caregivers above the market rate so they have every reason to stay for years.

Do you take short-term clients, or help after a hospital stay?

No. We only work with families long term. For recovery after a hospital stay or surgery, the hospital's discharge planner or your doctor can arrange short-term home health.

Live-in companion care

What is a live-in companion?

A live-in companion is a caregiver who lives in your loved one's guest quarters and works a set 8-hour day. They are part of the rhythm of the house, so your loved one is not alone in a big home, but they are not on duty around the clock.

Does a live-in caregiver work 24 hours a day?

No. A CrossleyCare live-in companion works a set 8-hour day on a schedule agreed in writing. Outside those hours they are off duty, even though they live on site. Live-in care with us is not 24-hour care.

What space does a live-in caregiver need?

Private guest quarters: a guest suite, apartment, or guest house works best, or a spare bedroom with its own bathroom. Someone who stays for years needs a comfortable place of their own.

Schedules and coverage

What is weekday care?

Weekday care is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, with the same caregiver every day. The caregiver goes home each evening, so no guest quarters are needed. We agree on the daily hours with you before care begins.

Can we add weekend care?

Yes, for existing clients only. Once care is underway, families can add weekend care of 16 or 24 hours a weekend. We do not offer weekend care on its own.

Do you offer part-time care?

No. We only offer the two full-time arrangements: a live-in companion or 40 hours of weekday care. Many Atlanta agencies offer hourly care, and Empowerline (empowerline.org) can point you to options.

What happens when the caregiver is sick or on vacation?

We do not send a substitute. When your caregiver takes vacation or is out sick, the family arranges cover for those days. We say this up front and put it in our agreement. It is part of what keeps the arrangement steady: one trusted person, not a rotating team of strangers. Before care starts, we help you think through a plan, such as a family member or a trusted person you can call on.

Cost and getting started

How much does CrossleyCare cost?

We do not publish pricing. Every arrangement is set up for one family, and we share pricing on the first call. CrossleyCare is full-time, private-pay care that usually lasts for years, so it is designed for families who can comfortably afford it for the long term. We would rather not take on a family for whom it would be a financial stretch.

How do we get started?

Start with the fit check. It takes about three minutes and gives you an honest answer right away. If it looks like a fit, a member of our family will reach out, usually the same business day, for a relaxed conversation. Then we visit in person and introduce a caregiver we think fits your family.

How quickly will you get back to us?

We aim to reply the same business day. A member of the Crossley family reads every fit check personally.

Can an attorney, wealth manager, or care manager contact you for a client?

Yes. Advisors are welcome to fill out the fit check on a client's behalf or contact us directly. See our page for advisors.
